GREEN ADVICE

Circular economy

Today, we rely to a large extent on a linear economy – we are a throw-away society with a large consumption of resources.

In 2020, the EU presented "The European Green Deal". This is a strategy to make Europe the first climate-neutral region in the world by 2050. The plan includes disconnecting economic growth from resource consumption.

The transition to a circular economy is perhaps the most important means of achieving the objectives of the Green Deal, and in March 2020 the EU's second action plan for circular economy was presented. In June 2020, the Norwegian government presented its national strategy for a green circular economy in Norway.

In a circular economy, the idea is to utilize resources as efficiently as possible and extend the lifetime of all products. When products can no longer be reused or repaired, they should preferably be recycled.
